How Long Does Dental Implant Surgery Take?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Your dental implant placement procedure will begin with your dentist numbing the area with a local anesthetic. Sedation options are also available to help you feel even more comfortable. Then, an incision is made in the gum tissue so the dental implants can be precisely and strategically placed into the jawbone at just the right angle. Lastly, the gums are closed and protective caps are placed over the end of the implants to keep them safe as the area heals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The whole surgical process usually takes between one and two hours for one dental implant. If you need more than one implant, the procedure will be longer. During your consultation, your dentist will be able to give you a more specific estimate for your unique case so you can plan accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once your surgery is complete, you can head home to begin the recovery period. This can take anywhere from three to six months. Finishing the Dental Implant Process<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Once your dental implants have fused to the jawbone, you need to undergo another minor procedure. This is when your dentist will attach abutments to the end of your implants. Impressions are also taken so your new restoration can be customized at the dental lab. Once they are ready, you can return to the dental practice.
